The only history people want to know. The wacky stuff. None of that date order . No-one can remember the order Kings and Queens came in.
Be honest. Can you remember whether George the Third  came before or after Henry the Eight? He should have come before cos he is a three and Henry is an eight.
If you want to know why William Ist will tell you. He wanted them all to be Williams.

George I and George II did not live at Windsor Castle and are therefore not proper Kings. Or Queens.

However someof these books seem to be written with that hushed reverence which accompanies anything written about royalty. For example Olwen Hedley. "Edward III amply fulfilled the heroic role expected of him. He laid claim to the French crown........and in 1337 the Hundred years War began." There's heroism for you. Starting a war is one thing. Making it last 100 years is in a class of its own. Especially since the Guinness Book of Records did not exist at the time. Have look
